Stone & Beam

In 2017, Amazon launched their first furniture line, Stone & Beam. The furniture line is traditionally-inspired, casual comfort at its finest targeted at young families that are looking for high quality, yet reasonably priced furniture. With this audience in mind, Amazon was looking to create an experience that felt approachable, but also warm and rustic for their customers. As part of this work, I developed a complete branding system with these tenets in mind including: primary and secondary brand marks, a brand color palette, a custom typeface, packaging design that highlighted this warm, rustic feel, and direction on brand photography. an approachable color palette for their consumers, and helped to art direct the brand photography.

Stone & Beam brand imagery needed to reflect scenes that you may experience in an everyday family. To do so, we created scenes that looked lived in and welcoming. In each of the photos we thoughtfully added little touches—like open magazines, strewn blankets, toys, and kicked-off shoes—to give the illusion of having a sneak peak into a real person's home. To create the rustic feel, we used a strong directional light to give the rooms a look like it was flooded with late afternoon sun and added a film grain to all the photos.
